In the world of residential design, Wan Yu Wu has created a masterpiece that embodies the essence of leisure and vacation. The Ocean Current project is a stunning retreat that combines sleek modernity with a pure white and gentle aesthetic. The black lines that dance across the facade add a unique touch, creating a sense of depth and contrast that is truly captivating.
One of the standout features of Ocean Current is the innovative use of special angles, such as arcs and bevels, throughout the space. These angles are expertly incorporated into the design, adding a sense of dynamism and visual interest. Whether it's the arc-shaped beam in the ceiling or the curved wooden louvers in the living room, these unique angles create a space that is both inviting and exciting.
The choice of materials in Ocean Current is also worth noting. The warmth of the wooden floor creates a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, while the use of marble adds a touch of elegance. The black iron pieces on the facade bring an industrial-style visual balance, adding a modern design touch to the overall aesthetic. The combination of wood, stone, and iron creates a natural and primitive sense that is both timeless and sophisticated.
One of the design team's main goals was to create a standard residential space that prioritizes comfort and nature. To achieve this, they carefully considered the height of the living room and the presence of a central support beam. The solution was to design an arc-shaped beam that adds a unique wave of fun to the ceiling. This not only creates a visually stunning effect but also enhances the overall sense of space and freedom.
The interaction between the design and its users is another aspect that sets Ocean Current apart. The curvy elements that run throughout the space, from the facade to the cabinet design, create a sense of flow and harmony. The rounded corners and cabinet edges add a level of comfort and safety, making the circulation within the space a seamless and enjoyable experience. Additionally, the inclusion of a curved wooden louvers design in the back of the living room provides a cozy and private space for office reading, further enhancing the functionality of the holiday home.
The Ocean Current project was completed in February 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. The design team drew inspiration from the surrounding environment, incorporating elements of the local scenery into the interior design. The contrast of black and white, along with the combination of wood, stone, and iron, creates a space where natural primitive and modern technology coexist harmoniously.
Overcoming the challenges of implementing the arc wave design required meticulous engineering and craftsmanship. The design team worked closely with skilled carpenters and craftsmen to bring their vision to life. Customized system cabinets and precise woodworking techniques were employed to create interesting angles and curves throughout the space. The result is a design that is not only visually striking but also functional and practical.
Ocean Current is a testament to the talent and creativity of Wan Yu Wu and the design team. Their ability to seamlessly blend aesthetics, functionality, and innovation has earned them recognition in the form of the Iron A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award celebrates designs that meet professional and industrial requirements while providing fulfillment and positive feelings. Ocean Current truly embodies these qualities, offering a holiday home that is both visually stunning and a joy to experience.
